Patriots React To Julian Edelman’ Pass To James White

The New England Patriots did an awesome job in the second half of the Sunday Night Football win over the Green Bay Packers. In the final quarter, Julian Edelman was able to haul in a backwards pass from quarterback Tom Brady and dropped back to engage in a screen pass to James White who rushed with it 37 yards to the 2-yard line. This was one of the many great spots of the 31-17 win.

It was just a great play call at the perfect time. Tom threw it to Julian, Julian threw it to me, it’s just a perfect play. The offensive line did a great job of selling it and getting down the field and blocking. I’ve just got to try and score next time,” White said.

Julian Edelman knows how to throw passes during his time with the Patriots. He did that against the Ravens in the Divisional Round during the Patriots’ playoff run as they rushed towards their Super Bowl XLIX win in 2014. In that game, Edelman clicked with Danny Amendola for a score but was a few yards short with James White on the latest toss.

“It’s always nice to throw a pass, just a little mad James didn’t get in. I would have had a better stat line,” Edelman told media members after the game.

If Edelman is trying to blame someone for White not reaching the end zone, Tom Brady may say a word or two.
Tom did not get out there and blocked for White when the football came back to him.

“That was a great play. I mean, I had no idea. You get out in space I have no idea what the hell is going on. I don’t know what’s illegal to hit or dive or cut. I though, ‘No way the ball’s getting to me’ and then the next thing you know James is running by me and I said, ‘s***’ just as he’s running by me cause I probably could have made a play to get him a touchdown, but you live and you learn,” he said.

“We had some big plays tonight. It was a lot of big plays. They took some chances, we took some chances and we came out ahead,” Brady added.
