Report: Tom Brady Gives Cordarrelle Patterson A New Nickname

Cordarrelle Patterson is definitely one of the most versatile players to hit Foxboro. In his first year with the Patriots, he lined up as a running back and rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown in eleven contests.

He’s been great – great attitude, great teammate. What we’ve asked him to do, both as a receiver, returner and then play running back at different times – he’s just a great football player. I think however he can impact the team – gaining yards whether it’s the kick game, pass game, run game – he’s willing to do it,” Brady said of Patterson.

“We gave him the ball, he tried to jump over the top of the line of scrimmage last week on the goal line which was a great play, was really close to getting in but just a little short. He’s just been a great player, great influence for the locker room, just a great, positive person. He has a lot of fun and loves playing football.”

Some would say that Patterson should be called a Swiss Army Knife, but Brady has another nickname for him.

“‘The Experiment,’ that’s what I call him. Just because he can do it all. We’re all just trying new things with him. I just love what he does,” the quarterback said, and Patterson does not mind that at all.

“Oh man, I like any nickname Tom gives me. That’s Tom Brady, man. Why not? He can give me any kind of name and I am going to like it. I’m enjoying my time here. I am having fun, as always. No matter where I am I am going to have fun and enjoy myself like it’s my last,” he said.

But, what about the Flash nickname? Josh Gordon claims it, too.

“Josh isn’t as fast as me so I give him The Reverse Flash. He thinks he’s faster than me, but he ain’t. There’s no competition, so he’s The Reverse Flash,” Patterson said.

“We can race right now. Josh is a good guy. I love having him here. Locker next to mine and everyday we’re talking about our names and stuff. It’s competitive between me and him.”
