Sony Michel Reacts To Increase In Explosive Plays In Patriots Offense

New England Patriots running back Sony Michel had one of his greatest games on Sunday due to the increase in explosive plays.

Sony Michel had runs of 33 and 31 yards in the team’s 27-13 win over the New York Jets. This were two of the running back’s three longest runs of the regular season and among four runs of 20 yards in his rookie year.

The running back registered 21 carries for 133 yards and a touchdown. He had a couple of catches for 12 yards. The running back said he is trying to create more big plays, and that’s one of his best skills from his college campaign at Georgia.

“Trying to. That’s the goal, trying to get better each and every week. Because sometimes there are good performances, sometimes they’re bad. Sometimes you just have to be consistent at it, try to have more good than bad,” Michel said.

He also said he was able to play more free Sunday. “Yeah, because I know my assignment. When I’m confident in what I’m doing, I can go out there and just play,” the running back said.

Michel was feeling really well coming off the Patriots’ Week 11 bye. He was taken off the injury report Wednesday. He was removed from the injury report three weeks in the regular season. the running back 57 carries for 260 yards and a couple of touchdowns in his three games.

Sony Michel has 127 carries for 586 yards and five touchdowns in this season. he has to average 83 yards per game over the last five weeks to be the team’s sixth 1,000-yard rusher of the Belichick era. New England has had three rookie 1,000-yard rushers in the team’s history – John Stephens in 1988, Curtis Martin in 1995 and Robert Edwards in 1998.
