Tyson Chandler Tells The Reason He Chose LA Over Warriors

Los Angeles Lakers center Tyson Chandler confirmed that the Lakers and Warriors were interested in signing him after the Phoenix Suns released him. Mike Bresnahan from SportsNet confirmed the info. However, Chandler was only interested in signing with the Lakers.

The 36-year-old veteran had a huge role for the Lakers, and that’s much better than his role in the Golden State Warriors. He averaged 3.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 22.7 minutes per contest.

Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times reported that a total of five teams showed interest for Chandler.

The Golden State warriors play small and Draymond Green is their de facto center which leaves less minutes for centers. Damian Jones starts for the Warriors and plays 16.4 minutes per matcup.

JaVale McGee starts for the Lakers, and plays about 25 minutes, so the other center can work hard and get the available minutes. Chandler jumped in, and his presence cannot be ignored.

“He makes us much more consistent. We were on our way there but getting someone of Tyson’s caliber both on and off the floor really helps,” Lakers head coach Luke Walton Said.

Chandler is a well-rounded defensive player, and can give the team a steadying presence off the bench.

“He’s huge. We knew we had a spot that needed some reassurance. And for us to be able to get Tyson in the fashion that we got him and to be able to just implement him in right away and the impact that he’s made in what, three games? … He’s great,” LeBron said.

“We both want exactly the same thing, and that’s to turn this historic franchise that’s won throughout the years and get it back to those type of days,” Chandler said of his game with LeBron James.

The Lakers will give Chandler a chance to play postseason basketball again, and that sure means a lot.
