Watch: Tyson Chandler Makes Huge Impact For Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers got back to track after the addition of Tyson Chandler. It is more than obvious that he has a huge impact on the team and the game.

President of basketball operations Magic Johnson had a meeting with head coach Luke Walton to discuss the situation. He was too patient throughout the summer, but ran out of patience after the Lakers lost too many games. The head coach got the message – he needs some winning. Johnson needed a stronger roster, and Chandler arrived right on time.

Chandler arrived as backup center, and brought along his Olympic gold medal and Defensive Player of the Year trophy. His Lakers debut came just a day after he signed his deal.

“We needed the help now. And I don’t know how that all works but give general manager Rob Pelinka and Magic credit for recognizing that and going out and getting that job done for our squad,” head coach Walton said after the veteran had nine rebounds in 23 minutes.

“I love this city the way they love me. When you’re homegrown from here, go to high school and all of that, and you have these same fans that have been watching your career and now you represent the jersey that everyone has been cheering for their entire lives, you kind of become one,” Chandler said of his arrival.

“I’ve been on the other side and played the villain. Now it’s great to be on this side and actually rep ’em.”

“I think it helps stabilize us. I think it will help make us more of the consistent type of team we want to be defensively and rebounding,” the Lakers head coach said.

The last time LeBron confronted the Timberwolves, Minnesota had 20 offensive boards. In the second game, they owned the glass 47-40 and limited the Wolves to 11 offensive rebounds.

It is more than clear that Tyson has immediate impact for the Lakers.
