Tom Brady Got Kick Out Of ‘Pretty Funny’ Belichick-Thielen Beef

Tom Brady spent most of his career playing for head coach Bill Belichick, and he has witnessed pretty much every mood Belichick pulls out. Things sure get heated once in a while, and Brady understands that. The Belichick-Thielen altercation was the hottest topic of last night’s game.

Brady was not really shocked to see his coach yell at Vikings wide receiver during their game against Minnesota at Gillette Stadium. Well, Thielen asked for it.

“I’ve been on the other end of that a few times in my career. Pretty funny. … It’s competitive out there. It’s very feisty and everyone’s emotions are on their sleeves. You say something and there is just an emotional reaction. That was pretty funny,” Brady said during his appearance on WEEI’s Mut & Callahan.

The heated exchange took place in the fourth quarter of the game. Thielen was not really happy with the development of the game.

When asked if he was exchanging holiday greetings with Thielen, Belichick said, “Yeah, pretty much.”

“Obviously I’ve gotta keep my cool. You know, I’ve got a lot of respect for him and what he’s done. I just thought it was interesting timing for a guy to go down, when it was a close play that could have been reviewed. So for me, I just lost my emotions,” Thielen said.

“I just thought the play was cheap. I wasn’t directing it toward him. I just thought the play was cheap. But like I said, I let my emotions get the best of me, because it’s a smart football play. If you are in that situation, why not? It’s not cheating, because there’s no rule against it, from a guy going down. I don’t know if he was hurt or not; he might’ve been hurt. That’s fine … just interesting timing for a guy to go down when it’s a close play.”
