Former Patriots Corner Sentenced To 8 Years In Jail

The world of football was shaken in the last few years, and Patriots corner Brandon Browner was one of the players to make headlines after breaking the law.

The Patriots corner pled no contest to attempted murder and was sentenced to eight years in jail. Reports confirm that Browner pled no contest to one count of attempted murder and two counts of child endangerment. His charges of attempted robbery, burglary and false imprisonment were dropped.

These charges come from a July 8 attack in which Browner broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house and assaulted her in front of her two children.

This is not the first time Browner breaks the law since his retirement in 2017. He was present in training camp with the Seahawks before the 2016 season, but the team decided to release him and keep Tyvis Powell.

Browner left the game, and could not stay out of trouble. He was arrested for cocaine possession in October 2017 and also made criminal threats in September 2017. He was also accused of assaulting the father of the mother of his children, but was never arrested.

Browner’s sentence happened in a time when domestic violence is still an issue in the league.

The San Francisco 49ers released linebacker Reuben Foster and he was claimed by Washington. Former Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt was also involved in an assault this year. TMZ released a video of him, and the Chiefs had no other choice but release him. He was later placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt list.

Browner is no longer part of the NFL family and will not bear any consequences in that aspect. This is now a matter of the court system.

It is such a tragedy that he will have to spend the next seven or eight years of his retirement in prison.
