LeBron James Given Bold Advice On Carmelo Anthony Trade By NBA Pundit

Lakers star LeBron James was advised not to team up with Carmelo Anthony at the team. yes, FOX Sports journalist Colin Cowherd.

Carmelo Anthony is leaving the Houston Rockets on December 15 despite the fact that he joined the team this summer.

The 34-year-old player had a dramatic drop in the last couple of seasons, and the whole thing affected his season. Anthony averaged 16.2 points per match at Oklahoma City Thunder last year, and came down to 13.4 this campaign in Texas. He was playing alongside talented players, but that was not really helpful for the 10-time All-Star.

LeBron James and Anthony joined the NBA in 2003, but their professional careers took a different turn. It was sort of understandable for the king to team up with Anthony. What did Cowherd say about this?

“LeBron, you and Carmelo are both 6ft 9in. Carmelo was a better offensive player than you at 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 years old. But I want to ask you a question: what separated you, eventually, from Carmelo Anthony? You’re the same size, both gifted. Carmelo, initially, was a more natural scorer and shooter than you,” Cowherd addressed LeBron.
He gave his reasons to think this way.

“There are three things which separated you from Carmelo Anthony, LeBron. First of all: the gym. That’s the thing Carmelo drives by to get something to eat. But you are a workaholic. You took what God gave you and took everyone ounce of focus to be a gym rat. The second thing was that you were an early adapter. You were ahead of the league, refining your three-point shooting [before the Golden State Warriors made it a necessity.] Carmelo refused to adapt to the three-point shot. Never changed his game.”

“The third thing: you’ve always played well with others. That was the knock on LeBron for a long time: ‘He doesn’t close! He passes too much!’ That again, is the opposite of Carmelo, who has always been the kind of guy who’s difficult to play with. These three things are not only elements to your game, they have not only defined you, they have separated you from somebody who’s as skill or more skilled, same size. Don’t do it. Don’t. You’re on pace to win 58 games. Why in the world do you need Carmelo Anthony?”
