Report: Lakers Targeting Two Veterans In Trade Talks

The Los Angeles Lakers signed LeBron James this summer, and he played really well with the young talents on the roster. But, Magic Johnson will not stop here. The Lakers director of basketball operations has his eyes on a few shooters, and the team has already been involved in several trade talks.

Sean Deveney of The Sporting News says that the team is eyeing
Miami Heat guard Wayne Ellington and Orlando Magic forward Terrence Ross.

“Among them, a source told Sporting News, is another former Laker — Heat guard Wanye Ellington, a 3-point specialist who would help LA’s struggles from the 3-point arc. Ellington is on a one-year deal with the Heat, and he has the right to veto a trade.

But as Miami’s season continues to look fruitless,  Ellington’s name has come up more in trade talks. The Heat would be open to moving Ellington to a playoff team for a first-round pick, according to sources. He has averaged 10.0 points and is making 38.1 percent of his 3-pointers.

Another target is Magic forward Terrence Ross, but with the 27-year-old averaging 14.1 points on a career-best 56.8 true shooting percentage, his value might be out of the Lakers’ range.”

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski wrote that the Lakers are in talks with the Phoenix Suns in order to trade for veteran forward Trevor Ariza.

“The Los Angeles Lakers are engaged in talks trying to acquire Phoenix Suns forward Trevor Ariza, league sources told ESPN.

The teams have been working to reach an agreement with a third team that would take on Lakers guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope as part of a potentially larger deal, league sources said. The Suns want to land a playmaking guard and a draft asset as the price of unloading Ariza, sources said. Phoenix and Los Angeles have made progress in third-team scenarios, although no agreements are close and both teams remain active in multiple trade discussions throughout the league, sources said.”

Broderick Turner said the Lakers will not give up on Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart.
