Report: Patriots Worked Out Three Free Agents

The New England Patriots have an excellent roster, but they never miss an opportunity to add another player. They are all ears when free agents hit the market, and that’s exactly what the team did this time.

The Patriots had linebacker Sam Eguavoen, tackle Ryker Mathews and wide receiver Tim Wilson in for their workout, as confirmed by ESPN’s Mike Reiss. There are several good reasons to workout the trio. The Patriots may be looking for an extra help on their active roster or practice squad. Maybe they are just boosting the emergency list in case of an injury.

Eguavoen played his college football at Texas Tech, totaling 74 tackles, two sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles and an interception in 2014. He was undrafted in 2016, and spent a year in Dallas before inking a deal with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2016. He totaled 91 tackles, an interception and three sacks. He posted173 tackles, four sacks and two forced fumbles and an interception throughout his CFL career.

Matthews was undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft out of BYU, but sure has some experience. Heinked a deal with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent and played several months with the team before they released him. In July, 2o17, Matthews joined the CFL, signing a contract with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Wilson may not jump on the field in 2018, but the Patriots could definitely use him in 2019.

The Patriots always make bold moves, and we believe that they are going to hit the right winning formula this time. Belichick sure has a few awesome reasons to play these three free agents. How will they fit with Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski and the rest of the guys? Let’s see if New England is ready for these free agents.
