Edelman Wears Custom Cleats Honoring Synagogue Shooting Victims

Patriots receiver Julian Edelman will sure be considered the enemy on Sunday, but he sure earned their respect. Edelman stands in solidarity with Pittsburgh, and found the best way to show that. Prior to Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh in Week 15, Edelman posted a pic of the cleats he will be wearing for the game.

Edelman posted a pic of his custom cleats in order to honor the victims in the mass shooting in the Pittsburgh synagogue. We can see the Star of David on one of the cleats. Here’s what he wrote on Twitter:

“In remembrance.

Joyce Feinberg
Richard Gottfried
Rose Mallinger
Jerry Rabinowitz
Cecil Rosenthal
David Rosenthal
Bernice Simon
Sylvan Simon
Daniel Stein
Melvin Wax
Irving Younger”

“My heart is broken for the families in Pittsburgh. It’s hard to even imagine such senselessness. As a Jew, an American and a human, I’m devastated. We are with you, Pittsburgh,” the receiver tweeted back in October.

“I just want to let people in Pittsburgh know, that I’m thinking about them. I’m sending good thoughts and they’re in our prayers. It was a big hit to the community and it’s uncalled for, so I’m just letting them know, hey, I’m behind you and I’m supporting you,” he said after the game.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft arrived in Pittsburgh to visit the Tree of Life synagogue, and held a speech at the congregation.

“Patriots owner Robert Kraft came into town early Saturday to visit the Tree of Life synagogue, where nearly two months ago a gunman massacred eleven people. From there, he went to another local synagogue to attend services and when the rabbi asked him to speak, he got up in front of the congregation said as big as this game is, going to to these services alongside Pittsburghers was bigger to him,” NFL Media’s Aditi Kinkhabwala reported.
