LeBron James Has Dunk Blocked For Only Ninth Time in His Career as Lakers Lose to Nets

Blocking LeBron James’ dunk is not something you do on a daily basis. It is a rare phenomenon. However, the king got his dunk blocked for the ninth time in his professional career in the Lakes’ loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

In the second minute of the match, Nets center Jarrett Allen blocked LeBron’s dunk attempt. “If you go up and block it, you’re going to be on the highlight. You get dunked on, you’re going to be on the highlight. So, just go up and protect the rim,” Allen said.

The 22-year-old player is the eighth player to block LeBron. He has 1,850 dunk attempts in his career as confirmed by ESPN Stats & Information research.

“ helluva list to be on. He’s an amazing player. I got the chance to do it, so I’m on the list forever now.”

LeBron acknowledged Allen’s game. He knew it would end up on social media, but also outlined one specific difference. “He’s in his 20s; I’m in 30s,”

“It takes me a little longer to get warmed up. But that’s fine. I mean, you’re a shot-blocker. You should, you can, get a block. It happens. It’s probably allover social media, so, that’s cool,”he said.

LeBron finished the game with 36 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. His points did not help the Los Angeles Lakers secure their road win. The team lost the second game in a row,and is 18-13 at this point of the season.

Nets coach Kenny Atkinson believes that Allen’s block was important for the team. the Nets are now 14-18 after the big win in New York.

“I thought that got us going. I thought that got the crowd going. I thought he made a statement with that block. That’s the only way you have a chance to beat this team, if everybody plays well. And I thought they did.”
