Steelers Seemed To Get Away With Penalty On Final Play Vs. Patriots

The game between the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers still has fans talking about it. We witnessed so many awkward situations, including all the penalties committed by the Pats. Bill Belichick’s guys were penalized 14 times for 106 yards in the game that resulted with a loss for New England. However, everyone is still talking about the penalty that was not called.

Mark Kaboly of The Athletic reported that Stephon Tuitt got away with hands-to-the-face penalty on the Patriots’ final offensive play. Did this affect the Steeler’s win?

“It appears the Steelers got away with one on the final play of the game. DL Stephon Tuitt could’ve been called for hands to the face of Pats C David Andrews, whose helmet was ripped off. It would’ve given Tom Brady at least 2 more shots to the end zone to tie it,” Kaboly wrote.

A thrown flag would have given the Patriots a whole new set of downs half of the distance to the goal. It would have been first-and-goal from the Steelers’ eight-yard line with 14 seconds left of the game. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was at the helm, and we can really say that they could have gotten those three plays off in that period of the game. The team had no timeouts, and each of the plays would have turned into a shot into the end zone. Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon and Rob Gronkowski were on the field, and New England had chance to score and tie the game.

These implications of this play could actually change the entire AFC playoff picture.New England is a game behind Houston and has two weeks to play. Being at the No. 3 seed is not the best feeling in the world, right? The Patriots will have to play in the first round of the playoffs and also play road games in the next two rounds of the postseason.
