Watch: Patriots’ Shaq Mason Brings Unforgettable Christmas Spirit To Maury County School

Can you imagine being part of a brilliant Shaq Mason Christmas? That’s exactly what happened before the holidays at one Maury County School.

The kids had the opportunity to have their very own Santa, and Shaq Mason was brilliant in the role. The kids’ last day of school was actually their happiest thanks to Mason. He did a really good job for these kids, and they will never forget the experience.

Mason is part of the New England Patriots family. He was born and raised in Columbia and went to McDowell Elementary School.

On December 20, students at McDowell Elementary were given the best surprise of their lives. They received a bag packed with gifts from Mason himself. The surprise was more than awesome, and Maury County Schools posted all the details on social media. Each of the bags contained a tablet, PJs, blanket, pillow socks and a few other items. Amazing!

“He has been one of the best partners ever and we thank him and wish him the very best holiday!” Maury County Schools wrote on the Facebook account.

Alicia McGuire was there to help, too. If by any chance you did not know it, she is Shaq’s mother.

“On Nov. 30, Shaquille told me he wanted to something for Christmas, ‘something for the kids at my old school. McDowell is dear to my heart. Let’s do something really good — tablets, toys’. We made it happen,” she said.

“Shaq has always been very present here, very supportive. He typically makes a couple of annual visits to the school. Ultimately, he said ‘I just want to make sure every child has Christmas. That’s what’s important to me,’” third-year principal Breckon Pennell said.

“Growing up (with) a single parent, he saw me work two jobs. He knows some kids don’t get a lot for Christmas, even though I busted my butt to make sure they had everything and probably stuff they didn’t need. He always talks about underprivileged kids, kids not being able to do something because of money. That’s just something that’s on his heart,” McGuire said of the memories related to Mason’s childhood.
