Anthony Davis To Lakers Development, One Key Detail Revealed

LeBron James’ encouraging efforts to get Anthony Davis on the team have nothing to do with the possibility that the New Orleans Pelicans trade their star. In fact, the team does not even pay attention to this.

Davis will enter free agency in 2020, and experts have already connected him with potential deals from the Los Angeles Lakers of Boston Celtics. The star player talked about his future, saying he is more interested in winning and legacy than he is about earning millions.

King James also talked about his desire to have Davis on the team.

There is a huge possibility that the Pelicans offer Davis a huge contract extension worth $239 million in 2020. Chiney Ogwumike said that the Pelicans will probably trade other players in an effort to keep Davis instead of just letting him go.

“That scenario you described there is the panic button, the nuclear button. If you’re the New Orleans front office, this is the franchise player you’ve always dreamed of. Someone that gives you 28 and 12, can knock down threes, finish at the rim, facilitate. He’s one of a kind,” he said.

“You don’t let him go for free or just because LeBron James is trying to coax him. This is the issue, there are options you have before you get to deciding to trade. Gentry said he wouldn’t even trade him for Beyonce! Instead of the Pelicans moving AD, they might try and move the pieces around AD first. Also there’s the super-max extension. This is the reason why small markets can compete with other markets.”

“They can say: ‘We can build a championship team around you, we’ll try to audition to keep you here, we can offer you the super-max’. If that doesn’t work, he’s got two years and we’ll discuss the options in the summer,” he added.

When asked about his future plans, Davis said, “I’d take legacy over money. I want to have a legacy. All my people that look up to me, the younger kids, I want them to know about AD’s legacy. Championships, the things I do in the community, being a good teammate, playing hard. All that stuff matters the most to me. Don’t get me wrong, money is amazing. But I think in that sense, money or legacy, I think my legacy will win that battle every time.”
