Patriots Owner Robert Kraft Makes Dreams Come True To Girls Inc. Of Worcester

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft donated $100,000 to Girls Inc. Of Worcester.

Girls Inc. is a charity that offers mentorship, after-school programs and STEM education in an effort to empower and support Central Massachusetts girls. Kraft is working on his “challenge grant” program, and the donation is meant for a digital learning specialist in the new technology center of the nonprofit organization. It will open next fall, as reported by Worcester Magazine.

In a recent interview, Girls Inc. of Worcester CEO Victoria Waterman revealed she learned of Kraft’s donation after answering the phone. “Something made me pick it up. The person said, ‘Hello, is this Victoria Waterman?’ I was thinking it was a telemarketer,” she said.

But, it was not. The Patriots owner called Waterman and talked to her about his plans to donate $100,000 to her nonprofit.

Waterman revealed that the team owner has invested in the mission, and was already related to Girls Inc.

Kraft’s late wife, Myra Kraft, is a Worcester native, and her mother was once part of the board of the organization, according to Waterman.

“He said I think it’s important to support the most marginalized and vulnerable populations, and I like that you support low income girls of color,” she said.

Kraft’s donation is matching any gift of over $100 to the nonprofit. The matching program will run in spring or until the final $100,000 goal is met. Waterman hopes that Girls Inc. will have a strong start of the holiday season.

“We’re taking advantage of the time of the holidays now, trying to appeal to people through that,” Waterman said.

Kraft is super busy at the moment, but he never misses an opportunity to help someone in need. He has already hosted a group of at-risk kids, and it was one of the most brilliant things we have ever seen.
