Peter King Makes Bombshell Statement About Patriots Trading For Josh Gordon

Josh Gordon is making headlines these days, but things did not start with his suspension or the decision to leave the Patriots. It all started when New England decided to trade for him in exchange for a fifth-round pick. Gordon was of great help for the team, but the NFL suspended him indefinitely. Many came forward with a version of the suspension, including Peter King.

People also tried to let the story die. However, Peter King of NBC Sports talked on WEEI’s Dale & Keefe and said the move was “extremely naive,” and even criticized the Patriots for doing all the things that led to such development of events.

“This all goes back to the fact that Bill Belichick and the Patriots didn’t do enough in the offseason to help their skill positions. They didn’t devote enough resources to going out and getting a wide receiver,” King said.

Was he right to say this?

New England did a lot at wide receiver spot in the offseason. They added Jordan Matthews, Kenny Brit and Eric Decker. But, none of them was able to stay in shape and healthy. The team is not responsible for the problems Matthews and Britt faced. Maybe the Patriots were supposed to pay Danny Amendola and keep Brandin Cooks, but that does not mean that the team left the receiver spot empty. We still have Chris Hogan and Julian Edelman.

King went on saying that he  would “never in a million years” bring Josh Gordon into the squad. “I would love to see a redemption story on Josh Gordon. But again, I don’t how you’d bring him onto your team, unless he finds religion and fixes his life.”

Gordon will have to do a lot before coming back on the field. The Patriots did not have much luck, but that deal made sense at the time.
