Report: Anthony Davis Has His Eyes On Four NBA Franchises

Anthony Davis plays in New Orleans, but he is already eyeing a few other teams. Chris Sheridan of Get More Spots reported that Davis considers joining other teams when it comes to making a decision on his future in the NBA.

Davis has a couple of years remaining on his five-year contact with the Pelicans. The Pelicans forward will make $25.4 million in 2018-19, and another $27 million next year. He also has a $29 million player option for the 2020-21 campaign, and may get an extension in 2019.

The player signed with Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group, and this was enough for fans to spread rumors.

From Sheridan:

“Contrary to what has become gospel in the NBA rumor mill — Anthony Davis is a lock to end up with the Los Angeles Lakers next season — the situation with one of the league’s Top 5 players remains fluid. For now.
But most importantly as it pertains to the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics are very much in play as the ultimate long-term landing zone for the best player on the New Orleans Pelicans.

A source with intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the NBA told GetMoreSports.com that Davis is considering five teams in the near and distant future: The Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans, New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers.

The determining factor in the short term will be the level of success the Pelicans do or do not have during the first half of the upcoming 2018-19 season. If they are middle-of-the-pack or worse in the competitive Western Conference, it is more likely than not that Davis will be moved before the trading deadline.”

Davis and Kyrie Irving shared their opinion on the possible teaming up in Boston. Jay King of The Athletic has more on this.

From King:

“It’s not time for the Pelicans to make a decision on Davis yet, but if he turns down a mega-extension next summer the Pelicans could have no choice but to trade him.

If they do, the Celtics will be one of the obvious suitors, with Brown, Marcus Smart, Terry Rozier, Robert Williams and/or a number of future picks including a possible top-five selection to dangle. Even if Tatum’s off the table, Boston would be able to field a competitive offer. Several league sources have said they believe Davis could end up either with the Celtics or Lakers if the Pelicans were to move him. If he landed with the Celtics, he’d be reunited with former Team USA teammate Irving. The two have already spoken about what it would be like to play together in Boston, according to a league source.”

Davis had his most productive season, averaging 28.1 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks. He also shot 53.4 percent from the field and striking 34.2 percent from beyond the arc on 2.2 attempts per game.
