Report: Two Patriots Named To 2019 NFL Pro Bowl

Stephon Gilmore and Tom Brady are on their way to Orlando. The league announced that the Patriots were selected to the 2019 NFL Pro Bowl. This is the second Pro Bowl for Gilmore as he was added to the squad in 2016 while he was part of the Buffalo Bills team.

When it comes to quarterback Tom Brady, he is selected to the 2019 NFL Pro Bowl for the 14th time in his professional career. That’s a NFL record.

Last year, the Patriots had four Pro Bowlers, and that’s a nine year low for them. Tom Brady,James Develin, Rob Gronkowski and Matthew Slater had the honor, but they could not take part of the game as they were getting ready to confront the Eagles in Super Bowl LII.

Gilmore is in the middle of his second year with the Patriots after signing a five-year contract in $65. He signed his deal in 2017, and put an end to his time with the Buffalo Bills. Last year, the Patriot came on strong late and went through a critical pass breakup in the AFC Championship.

This year, Gilmore was one of the most powerful corners in the league. he totals two interceptions, 18 passes defended and 41 tackles. He was the anchor of the Patriots secondary. In his Week 15 game, Gilmore held Antonio Brown to two catches on four targets for 8 yards when covering the player.

Patrick Mahomes, Andrew Luck and Deshaun Watson almost ‘killed’ Brady’s chance for the Pro Bowl.He experienced that in 2008, but he tore his ACL in the season opener. Brady was not named to the Pro Bowl in 2002, 2003, and 2006. This year, Brady has a 65.9 completion percentage, 3,979 yards, 24 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Pro Bowl players are determined by votes of fans, players and coaches.
