Antonio Brown Requests Trade From Pittsburgh Steelers

Jason La Canfora from CBS Sports reported that Antonio Brown has requested a trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

There is a great chance that Anthonio Brown leaves the Steelers. The player himself did not demand a trade deal, but told the team he would like to leave. La Canfora’s reports confirm that “Brown had issues with Mike Tomlin and Ben Roethlisberger.”

Brown also “feels like the coach is too aligned with the quarterback.” That’s what La Canfora said. This happens right after Brown was benched for missing practice sessions and getting into a thing with Roethlisberger.

But, we may not see a trade deal in near future. Brown is the best player the Steelers have, and he has just came off of another 100-catch season. The Steelers had a really bad game against the Cinncinati Bengals, meaning that they cannot survive without Brown. The Steelers are in the run for another Super Bowl win, and losing Brown is not such a good idea.

There is also this contract issue. The Pittsburgh Steelers reworked his deal before the season and boosted his cap hit. He cost the Pittsburgh Steelers less than $8 million in cap terms in this year. That goes to over $22 million this season, $21.2 million of which would be gone on the cap if he leaves.

The Steelers can trade at a better rate after June 1st but most NFL teams would fill their wide receiver spots. In other words, not many owners would be willing to pay a lot of money for Brown.

So, yes, we are more than sure that Brown will stay on the same team with Roethlisberger. He better find a way to communicate with him and Mike Tomlin. That’s the only way to go through the whole thing. But, let’s see what happens next.
