Kawhi Leonard Makes Major Decision To Put Lakers And Clippers On Red Alert

Kawhi Leonard will say ‘no’ to the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers if the Toronto Raptors get to the NBA Finals.

This is what The Athletic’s Jabari Young said. He believes that the Toronto Raptors will sign Kawhi Leonard once he becomes a free agent.

Leonard will be given an option to leave the Raptors this summer. The Lakers and Clippers are all-in when it comes to signing him.

However, Young said that Leonard will not turn down Toronto if the team makes the NBA Finals.

“He likes Toronto, he likes that city. That’s a very diverse city, a very good city to be in. It has that uniqueness about it and I feel like him and his reps are going to give the Raptors every last opportunity to re-sign him. I feel like he’s going to give him that chance,” he said.

“There isn’t no chance in the world Usai Ujiri is trading him by the deadline, that ain’t happening. If he’s going to walk then he’s going to walk but right now Toronto, with one of the best records in the NBA, he’s not getting traded. Right now, I’ve told people the further the Raptors go with Kawhi Leonard, the better the chance they have to re-sign him. They go to the NBA Finals then I can’t see Kawhi Leonard walking away from that because ultimately he’s always made it known that he wants to win. He wants to be great and he wants to win championships before his time in the NBA comes to an end.”

“If that’s true, you don’t leave a championship team that you just got to the NBA Finals with and sign with the Clippers, who are still an unknown, or sign with the Lakers where you have to deal with the LeBron James hoopla. He’s a great player but you’ve got to know what you’re dealing with when you go through with that and I don’t think Kawhi wants any part of that. The Clippers thing, great story but I just don’t know if he feels they have enough. When you’re Toronto, looking at the number one team in the NBA, you’re path to the NBA Finals is much easier to get there from the East than the West. I think they’re going to give the Raptors every opportunity. I feel like they like this situation and it’s not going to be a quick ‘okay, thank you Toronto. We’re going to go out and sign in L.A.’ Right now, if you asked me, I feel like Toronto are the number one team in the running and what they do with that is up to them.”
