Trey Flowers Puts Exclamation Point On Contract Year

Trey Flowers put himself in a position to earn a lot of money in the offseason.

The pass rusher did a great job in his career year right before he hits free agency for the first time. In the Patriots’ 38-3 win over the New York Jets in the finale, Trey Flowers totaled six tackles and a sack. This brings him to 7.5 on the regular season, and that’s a new career high. Flowers finished the regular season with 57 tackles and three forced fumbles.

“I get better each and every year, but for me it’s not all about the numbers. It’s about how I affect the game as far as helping my team win. Anytime I can create plays to put my team in position to win, I’m all for that,” he said.

Flowers may not focus on the numbers and that is more than great for him and his position on the open market. According to Spotrac, Flowers can earn a five year contract worth $15 million.

“I get better each and every year, but for me it’s not all about the numbers. It’s about how I affect the game as far as helping my team win. Anytime I can create plays to put my team in position to win, I’m all for that,” he said Sunday.

“It’s definitely coming together. It’s one of the things that we have to build ourselves on and it starts in practice. We go from the practice field and bring it to the game field with execution on Sundays. It’s just one of the deals that you have to play your top football at this point of the season going against some great teams. You’re going to have to be able to execute well on Sundays,” the player said of the defensive unit.

The Patriots enjoy Flowers’ game, but that may change in near future.
