Lakers Star LeBron Will Need These Two Players For Anthony Davis trade

The Los Angeles Lakers are still hoping that Anthony Davis will leave the New Orleans Pelicans. But, it seems like the Davis trade is only possible if the team parts ways with a couple of players.

LeBron James hoped that Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram get ready for the playoffs with the only purpose to make themselves attractive enough for potential suitors for the Lakers to seal the Davis trade.

That’s what ESPNLA’s Allen Sliwa believes. He suggests that the Lakers are probably be worried about the current trade value for Lonzo and Brandon.

The Lakers are 2-5 since King James suffered a groin injury on Christmas Day in the game against the Golden State Warriors. The poor record affected the team’s position in the rankings in the Western Conference. They are now eighth, and the battle for a playoff spot is super hot.

LeBron is going through a re-evaluation on Friday. In other words, he will miss at least a couple of games. This adds more pressure to the young core. The young players will have to step up and do their best to score.

What will LA miss in the Davis trade

Ball averages 13 points for the past seven games played without the king. Ingram has a take on the scoring load, too.

Any Davis-related trade will include Ball or Ingram. The bad part comes when you realize that they both may go. Anthony Davis is a top target at the moment.

Sliwa says Brandon and Lonzo will be valued more if LA makes the playoffs after LeBron’s return.

“I think the value of these two players will be at the highest when everybody is back. If you make a deep playoff run and these guys are contributing that’s when their value is going to be at their highest. Lets just say the NBA in general, they’re looking at BI [Ingram] and Zo [Ball], Lonzo had 0 points [against the Timberwolves]. That’s an awful look. The Lakers are in dire need of offence right now with Kuzma and LeBron out,” Sliwa said.

“For Lonzo Ball to have 0 points, I think they’re a most definitely teams out there… put it this way if Laker fans are out there saying ‘lets trade these guys’, you obviously don’t think there’s much value in them so why would another team look at them and think ‘well if you don’t want them we got to get them’.

“Now is not a good look for these players if you’re thinking trade. Get into the postseason, make sure that they are playing team basketball and they have roles and they’re able to excel at those roles, then they’re value will go up.”
