North Carolina Coach Roy Williams Releases Bold Statement On LeBron-Jordan Debate

The LeBron-Jordan debate is the hottest topic in the past few years, and North Carolina coach Roy Williams has made a pick.

Well, not really. Roy Williams says that’s not even a debate.

Michael Jordan is the greatest to ever play. LeBron (James) is in that conversation. He’s awfully impressive … It’s (also) hard to compare (Jordan) to centers like Wilt (Chamberlain) and Kareem (Abdul-Jabbar). But Michael is the best of all-time, in my opinion.”

This goes against LeBron’s recent comments. The king declared himself the greatest player of all-time on ESPN’s “More Than an Athlete” series. The Jordan army rushed to confront him.

“It’s my opinion. I think Tiger Woods is the greatest golfer of all-time, and he didn’t go to North Carolina. Jordan’s the best. There are a lot of great players today, lots to come.”

Roy Williams is all in about Williamson

According to the coach, Blue Devils freshman star Zion Williamson is the “full package.” Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton said Williamson is “the most phenomenal talent that’s been in the ACC since Michael Jordan.”

“He’s an incredible athlete who can do things other people cannot do, and things nobody’s ever seen,” Williams said of Williamson. “We’ve never seen anybody with that (build) and that type of speed and (court) vision. On top of that, he’s just a genuine, fantastic young man.”

“I think the ACC is the best league in the country, and when I hear other people talk about other teams and leagues, I sort of giggle,” Williams said. “It’s just an unbelievable league where it’s difficult to win every night. Duke and Virginia have sort of separated themselves. Virginia is playing better than anyone in the country right now and seem to be motivated in a different way than anyone else after losing to a No. 16 seed last (March) and bringing almost all of those guys back.”
