Julian Edelman Goes From Goat To Hero For Patriots In AFC Championship Game Vs. Chiefs

Julian Edelman almost let things slip down his hands in the AFC Championship, and then helped the team in the best way possible.

“I always preach you have to have a short memory, whether it is good or bad,” Julian Edelman said after the big win. “That was a bad play. I felt awful, but you have to move on.”

“You look forward to the next time your number is called,” the receiver added.

Edelman led the New England Patriots with seven catches on 10 targets for 97 yards in the big win. He has the chance to play his fourth Super Bowl game after missing last year’s contest due to a torn ACL.

“I didn’t get to go last year, so this is pretty awesome,” the receiver said. “… We get to play in the last game of the year. This is what you play the game for. This was awesome.”

Bill Belichick loves Julian Edelman

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick recognized Edelman’s qualities long before fans did that. Edelman was hit with a suspension at the beginning of the season, but he returned to the field in the most glorious way ever.

“Julian is a competitor,” Belichick said. “From his first playoff game against the Ravens (in 2009) to tonight, this guy gives you all he has every play, all the time. We all make mistakes out there — all plays we’d like to have back that aren’t perfect — but no one competes harder than Julian does, and he puts a lot into it. … He came through on a lot of big plays for us.”

The Patriots are playing the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, Feb. 3 in Atlanta. It will be their ninth Super Bowl, and that sure means a thing. Many said the team will not make the Super Bowl, but here they are today… owning the field.
