Magic Johnson Knows Who He Wants To Replace Luke Walton With

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton had to deal with a wave of negative reactions. LeBron James, Rajon Rondo and Lonzo Ball are injured, and the king is still out of the game. Ball will miss a month, and things do not look too well for the Lakers. Well, Lakers director of basketball operations Magic Johnson has a plan, and it involves a replacement for Walton.

Stephen A. Smith reported that Magic Johnson has found a replacement for Walton.

The Lakers are still trying to become contenders. Getting LeBron was a big move, and they are going really big this time. Anthony Davis is on the way to join the Lakers and he has already requested a trade.

Is Walton going out?

Magic Johnson has a plan

“It’s not Mark Jackson, who I think should be a strong candidate if Luke Walton were to lose his job,” Smith said on ESPN’s First Take. “I can tell you if Luke Walton did not have a job with the Lakers this year, the Charlotte Hornets – not just Mitch Kupchak but Michael Jordan – would have hired Luke Walton in a nanosecond.”

“He would have had a job, make no mistake about it because they love him. I am told that Magic Johnson has a coach in mind in the event that he elects to let Luke Walton go. I do not know the name of that person definitively. But I know it’s somebody that s already employed in the National Basketball Association as a head coach that Magic would want in L.A., if he elected to let go of Luke Walton.

“But they all concede that Luke Walton is doing a far better job than he was doing at the beginning of the year. I think Luke Walton will be given a chance to succeed. I think he should be given a chance to succeed and we’ll see what happens.”
