Anthony Davis Ready To Force Lakers Move, LeBron James Claim

There is a huge possibility that Anthony Davis forces a trade to the Los Angeles Lakers. Winning a championship is only possible if you play alongside LeBron James.

NBA star-turned-pundit Jay Williams said the Pelicans do not really have the power to make Anthony Davis stay. The All-Star will probably be offered a supermax contract extension next summer, but he is not interested in money. He is all about legacy.

The Pelicans are at 14th place in the Western Conference, and making Davis stay is almost impossible. Who is signing Davis? The Los Angeles Lakers? Or the Boston Celtics.

Williams said the Lakers are getting him.

“I expect AD to try to force somebody’s hand to get a trade. When you think about this team, they are the third best in the NBA in offence. But as far as defensive efficiency, they are 26th.”

“You never think about that with this team when they have the best rim protector and you have a guy like Jrue Holiday is a great perimeter defender. This team has major issues. In order to win in the today’s NBA, for a guy like AD, you have to be partnered with another top-10 player. Think about the teams that have won the past championships: Golden State, LeBron James and Kyrie [Irving] in Cleveland. Jrue Holiday is a really good player [but] he’s not a top-20 player. You’re not going to win championships with that.”

“I don’t see Dell Demps [Pelicans general manager] or Alvin Gentry [Pelicans head coach] or anybody in that organisation attracting a top-10 player to New Orleans. I think it’s L.A. I think L.A. will be the best option for him. Think about how they can play off each other. Him and LeBron James involved in pick-and-rolls. Those are two guys that can win you multiple championships. He can do it with the Celtics too but they might not have Kyrie next year.”
