Breaking: New England Patriots Part Ways With Their Coach… Another Team Zeroing

The New England Patriots will probably look for a new defensive play caller. The Miami Dolphins are their biggest threat, and it seems like the Patriots are getting a new coach.

The Miami Dolphins have the perfect coach for their head coaching position. They have chosen the Patriots’ de facto defensive coordinator Brian Flores. Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network was the first to confirm the big news.

Coach Flores has not inked a deal… yet

Rapoport said there is still no official deal, but Flores is actually the Dolphins’ top target. The team fired Adam Gase after he signed with the New York Jets after the 2018 season. Gase will now be the head coach of the Jets.

Mike Jones of USA Today reported that the Dolphins were super interested in Dallas Cowboys’ Kris Richard and Flores. However, Flores was their favorite. The same info came from the Miami Herald. They said that Flores is near the top of the Dolphins’ list after his meeting with team owner Stephen Ross and general manager Chris Grier.

The Dolphins cannot offer Flores’ a deal until the season ends. That may happen this weekend after the Patriots host the Los Angeles Chargers for AFC Divisional Round game. Maybe Flores will sign with his new team after Super Bowl LIII. However, a deep playoff run could change Flores’ plans.

Flores joined the Patriots family in 2004. He had several roles on the team, and that’s what makes him even more acceptable for other teams. Flores worked with the defense, and was also part of the scouting department in the period between 2004 and 2007.

The defensive coordinator had his first role in the Patriots’ coaching ranks in 2012. He was the team’s safeties coach. Flores was on that position for three years, and then took the linebackers coach position. Matt Patricia left the team last offseason, and Flores became the Patriots’ de facto defensive coordinator.
