Lakers Have Already Contacted Pelicans Over Potential Anthony Davis Trade Deal
The Los Angeles Lakers are still looking for a great player to add to their roster, and Anthony Davis has long been on their list. The Lakers have probably contacted the New Orleans Pelicans to seal the move.
That’s what Yahoo Sport’s Chris Haynes said. He believes that Anthony Davis will have to be the first person to start off the trade. The New Orleans Pelicans may not like that at all.
Davis’ future career plans are hanging in the air, and several reports confirm that he will leave the Pelicans this summer. The 25-year-old player will be offered a supermax contract extension in the offseason, and the Pelicans will use the final bit of their power to make him stay. However, it is more than certain that Davis will turn down that juicy offer and join a team that can win the championship.
The Lakers are a top favorite, but some believe the team’s value has decreased.
The Pelicans are in danger
Haynes went on explaining that Davis will have to initiate every deal.
“They still have young assets. Brandon Ingram is still a young guy and Lonzo Ball. I don’t want to say they’re stock as dropped tremendously. I will say this, as it pertains to Anthony Davis and pursuing him. It will have to be on Anthony Davis first to request a trade and then once it gets to that point that will get the ball rolling. The Los Angeles Lakers, they’ve probably already reached out to New Orleans already.”
“New Orleans were [probably] like, ‘we’re not making a move now’. They’ve got the supermax deal they can offer him over the summer, then if it gets to that point and AD says, ‘I’m passing up on this $240m-plus deal’. Then New Orleans has to say, ‘alright, we’ve got a lost cause.’ It’s on AD’s part first. He has to be the one to make the dominos move and say, ‘I want out’. If it does get to that point, I think that point is over the summer.”
