Lakers Have Bold Plan To Land Kyrie Irving Because Of Anthony Davis

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are still trying to add a major name to their roster, and Kyrie Irving is their next target.

According to Cris Carter, the Lakers are already making plans to land Irving as they have identified him as a potential alternative to their top free agents.

The Lakers will have to make a few important decisions this summer. Will they become contenders? Who knows… Los Angeles is going big in the efforts to sign a free agent. Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard are their top targets. However, Carter believes that they will also try to trade for Kyrie Irving.

Irving is an option

“I think LeBron realizes, regardless of what KD decides to do this offseason, he’s going to have to be able to beat the Warriors,” Carter said on First Things First. “In beating the Warriors, LeBron has a comfort level with only a certain number of players, Kyrie being one of those very few players. There’s players he would like to take to court with, guys who aren’t in Los Angeles.

“Kawhi and some other potential free agents, but what if they don’t get them? What is the Lakers’ plan B if Kawhi decides to go to the Clippers or do something else? What if they can’t trade for AD? AD has already said, ‘I’m not going to demand a trade’. That right there makes it problematic for the Lakers that he’s not demanding a trade early.

“That’s going to take it to the summer. There’s going to be other people trying to trade for AD. Boston’s got more assets, draft picks and/ or players that, if I’m the Pelicans, I’d look to instead of looking to trade with the Lakers. I think Magic Johnson and LeBron need more than one plan and I do believe Kyrie could be a part of those plans.”
