LeBron James Issues Historic Warning Over Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard

LeBron James is making history at the Los Angeles Lakers, and there is one major concern on his mind. Will Kawhi Leonard and Kevin Durant sign with the team this summer? The king has just issued a historic warning.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith says there has not been a player in the league which has failed to bring a title in Los Angeles in entire history. LeBron James put an end to his second stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the offseasion, and decided to join the Lakers on the first day of his free agency. The team became potential contender, and Magic Johnson needed another superstar to help LeBron win more games at the Staples Center. Durant and Leonard are nice options, and the front office created enough cap space to sign a big name. That’s why the king issued his historic warning.

Durant and Leonard have other suitors running after them

Durant may stay with the Golden State Warriors. However, the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets were also listed as potential teams to get him.

Leonard has an option to re-sign with the Toronto Raptors, and the Clippers are one of the greatest team to get him.

Smith believes that if the Lakers fail to sign these players, LeBron’s legacy will be in big trouble.

“Could you imagine how bad it’s going to be in L.A. for the Lakers if Lebron, Magic [Johnson] and [Rob] Pelinka can’t get anybody for LeBron this summer but the Clippers get Durant and Kawhi Leonard? If that happens, LeBron James might go four years without winning a title in L.A. He didn’t go to L.A. to go home in April or May. Other than Elgin Baylor, who retired in the middle of the year the year the Lakers won the championship in the 70’s, there is no marquee superstar in the history of the NBA who has played for the Los Angeles Lakers who has failed to bring them a title.

“From George Mikan, to Wilt Chamberlain and Jerry West, to Magic [Johnson] and Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar] and [James] Worthy, to Shaq [Shaquille O’Neal] and Kobe [Bryant], to Kobe. There is no mega superstar in the history of basketball who failed to bring a title to the Los Angeles Lakers. If LeBron doesn’t win a title in his four years and he elects to retire, he will be the biggest megastar in the history of basketball and the Lakers organisation to have failed to deliver a chip.”
