Report: Anthony Davis Won’t Re-Sign With Pelicans, Demands Trade

The New Orleans Pelicans may not like the future development of events, as there is a huge possibility that Anthony Davis leaves the franchise.

According to Rich Paul, Anthony Davis dos not plan on re-signing with the Pelicans. The player has even requested a trade, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Well, we saw this coming.

“Anthony wants to be traded to a team that allows him a chance to win consistently and compete for a championship,” Paul said. “Anthony wanted to be honest and clear with his intentions and that’s the reason for informing them of this decision now. That’s in the best interests of both Anthony’s and the organization’s future.”

Anthony Davis is on the sidelines these days as he is recovering from his hand injury. The player is averaging 29.3 points and 13.3 rebounds per game this campaign.

“Davis’ declaration on wanting out now gives teams other than the Boston Celtics a head start in pursuing trades for him. Restricted by the Rose Rule, Boston cannot trade for Davis until July 1 because league rules wouldn’t allow both Kyrie Irving’s and Davis’ contracts under the provision on the roster together. Irving becomes a free agent on July 1.”

Anthony Davis met with LeBron James

Davis has already met with LeBron James. They had dinner before Christmas. In other words, he is just checking on alternatives. The Pelicans may also offer him a five-year supermax contract extension worth $240 million. However, this may not happen.

LeBron fueled the fire with his comments about Davis. He said it would be great if the Pelicans player joins him in LA. Small-market general managers were angry at him for trying to steal players. It is a big game, and everyone is trying to get a few extra points. Let’s see who will get Davis.
