Report: Packers Set Date To Interview Josh McDaniels

Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is in the talks of getting the head-coaching position in the Green Bay Packers.

It is more than clear that the Packers plan to interview McDaniels. Ian Rapoport from the NFL Network said that McDaniels will interview with the Packers. New England has a first-round bye in the playoffs, and McDaniels can now talk to teams about empty job positions.

McDaniels will have to talk to teams this week, because the Patriots are playing their divisional round playoff game. The Packers will not talk to McDaniels until the Pats finish their run in the playoff.

When asked about the head-coaching job, McDaniels talked about his current focus.

“I don’t really worry about the future and honestly, each week is a tremendous challenge and we try to stay in the moment and focus on the task at hand, which this week is obviously considerable considering that we haven’t had a lot of success down there. This is a big challenge for us. I didn’t do nearly well enough in my role and my job last year when we went down there to Miami, so there’s a lot for us to look at and a great defense for us to go there and face where they play extremely well at home,” he said.

“All the other stuff is just, it is what it is and don’t really pay too much attention to it. I love what we do here in terms of working hard to try to come up with the best plan for our players each week and that’s where my focus is going to remain.”

The Packers are also interested in linebackers coach Brian Flores. The team has already talked to former Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell and former Colts head coach Chuck Pagano.
