Roger Goodell Finally Broke His Silence On Josh Gordon’s Suspension

While the Patriots are getting set to take on the Rams in Super Bowl LIII, Josh Gordon is staying out of the spotlight while he serves an suspension for violating the terms of his reinstatement into the NFL.

According to NESN.com Josh Gordon currently is receiving treatment at an inpatient facility in Gainesville, Fla., the source said. Gordon was spotted at a Gainesville-area gym earlier this month because he has been granted freedom to work out based on time spent in the facility.

During his State of the NFL address down at Super Bowl LIII, Roger Goodell addressed Josh Gordon’s suspension for the first time. Roger did keep the door open for Gordon to be reinstated, but ultimately is focused on getting his health right.

“Directly I have not spoken to him since his last suspension,” Goodell said Wednesday. “I do know he’s in treatment. He’s a young man who has had a lot of challenges. I have gotten to know him and understands his struggles and the challenges that he’s had to go through and he’s working at it. He understands what he has to do. He understand the importance for him — And this is well beyond football. This is for his life. — to make sure he takes care of himself and he understands the importance of getting this issue under control and being able to live a healthy and long life. 

“If he can, we’ll evaluate that at the right time, but right now the focus is what more can we do to help Josh get to that place.”

At the time of his suspension, Josh Gordon was the top receiver for the Nwe England Patriots are he led the team in receiving yards (720) to go along with 40 catches and three touchdowns. If the Patriots do end up winning Super Bowl LIII, Josh Gordon would get a championship ring.
