Tom Brady Issues Bold Statement About 2018 Patriots’ Team Identity

The New England Patriots made it to the playoffs, and they are waving goodbye to the regular season. Quarterback Tom Brady talked about the differences between this year’s team and the teams he has played on in the past seasons.

According to the quarterback, the hallmark of this season’s team is the Patriots resilience.

“Every team has its own unique identity, and this team cares a lot about each other. We play for each other, and we’re playing to win. I think that’s what we’re here for. We’ve shown we can compete. We’ve shown we could overcome some adversity. We’ve been counted out a few times and showed back up with a lot of resolve. We have great character on this team,” Brady said.

New England lost consecutive contests in Weeks 2 and 3, and then in Weeks 14 and 15. The team is at 11-5 this season, and that’s their worst since 2009. In that season, the Patriots were blown out by the Ravens at home in the wild-card round game.

The wins over the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets helped the team finish the regular season on a high level, and secure the first-round playoff bye.

Brady and his teammates are a home victory away from the eight consecutive AFC Championship Game appearance.

“Our story’s still being written, and fortunately, we have an opportunity to write it. We’ve got to go out there and play our best. Every team we play next week — and beyond, hopefully — is a great team. They’ve earned it. The team we play will have played a playoff game, and we’re going to have to play our best game of the year,” the GOAT said.

The Patriots are playing the Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens or Los Angeles Chargers next Sunday in the divisional round.
