Report: New Team Emerges As Lonzo Ball Trade Destination

Anthony Davis is leaving New Orleans, and the Los Angeles Lakers are his top destination. One of the most interesting details about his trade is that the young players the Pelicans have targeted are not interested in replacing the star player. Yes, we are talking about Lonzo Ball.

Kristaps Porzingis said he is not interested to join the New Orleans Pelicans, and the same applies to Lonzo Ball. Tania Ganguli of The Los Angeles Times reported that Ball does not want to go to New Orleans. Well, it gets funny when you realize that the same report suggests that he wants to go. Ball may go to the New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls as these are his top destinations. There is a third team that has shown interest in the young Laker. Is there any chance that he joins the Phoenix Suns?

“After learning of the Lakers’ offers to the Pelicans, Lonzo Ball’s camp maintains that New Orleans isn’t the desired destination. Phoenix makes the most basketball sense if Ball were to be traded and according to two sources there is mutual interest,” Ganguli tweeted.

Ganguli also reported that the Suns are interested in Ball, too. The team has a lot to offer to the Lakers and Pelicans which makes it fit for a three-team trade. However, that does not apply to the Knicks and Bulls. We believe Devin Booker and DeAndre Ayton are not available in these talks, but the Suns have other trade assets. Josh Hackson was the fourth overall pick in 2017, and many teams bet on his success. Mikal Bridges had an excellent rookie campaign. To make things even juicier, the Suns can add the 2019 first-round pick to the talks.

The Suns are looking for a point guard, and have not made a huge move since acquiring Eric Bledsoe. The team has started four players at that position this season: Booker, Isaiah Canaan, DeAnthony Melton and Elie Okobo. Booker is important for their game, and the others do not really make a difference.
