Rob Gronkowski Shares The Incredible Message He Received From Edelman On Super Bowl-Winning Drive

Patriots receiver Julian Edelman was brilliant on Sunday night. His performance in Super Bowl LIII was amazing. The receiver was able to catch 10 passes for 141 yards and was named Super Bowl MVP in the Patriots 13-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Atlanta. The winning drive said it all.

Edelman’s contribution with the football in his hands will be long remembered, and his greatest contribution was related to the winning drive.

The game was tied 3-3 and offensive players on both sides played really strong. Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels made an adjustment to go to a two tight end set in order to hit the Rams’ base 3-4 defense through the air. Julian Edelman knew if the team finally was going to hit pay dirt, they would need Rob Gronkowski to make a play.

“You know, Julian, on that drive, looked at me and said, ‘We need another play out of you, Rob. We need a huge play,’” Gronk said after the win.

That’s what the tight end did. He hauled in an 18-yard pass to begin the winning drive, and then snagged a 29-yard strike to bring New England at the LA’s 2-yard line. Running back Sony Michel went into the end zone on the next play to give the Patriots a 10-3 lead and that was everything the defense needed to secure the sixth ring of the Brady-Belichick era.

Edelman did his best to help the team win the third Lombardi Trophy in five seasons. It was a tough game, and both sides struggled on the field. But, the Pats played old school football, and won the game thanks to the defense. They usually rely on the offensive line, but this time they used a completely different tactics. And it worked in the best way ever!
