Lakers Interested In Carmelo Anthony After Opening Roster Spot

The Los Angeles Lakers played really smart with their latest move. The team parted ways with Ivica Zubac and Michael Beasley to get Mike Muscala, a player with a nice three-point range. This trade opened a roster spot, and the team has a chance to add another player without affecting their trade assets. Guess who is next on their list? It’s Carmelo Anthony.

Brad Turner of The Los Angeles Times reported that the Lakers are now seriously interested in signing Carmelo Anthony. Melo will is a free agent now that the Chicago Bulls have released him.

The Lakers were already interested in Anthony, but their roster was pretty packed. The Lakers were not ready to let young player go to get him, but now they have an empty spot.

Anthony and LeBron James are friends. The King has already talked about his amazement with the idea of playing with Melo on the same team. Signing Melo would sure make him happy. But, Melo is one of the league’s worst defensive players, and he wanted a major role with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets.

LeBron James will stay on the team for quite some time. Kyle Kuzma and Brandon Ingram are starters, and the Lakers will need their development. Los Angeles will not give up on Anthony Davis. They will sure try again this summer.

Carmelo Anthony had a drop in his numbers

Anthony shot 40.5 percent from the field with the Rockets. He made only 32.8 percent of his three-pointers in the 10-game sting. His time with the Thunder was not good at all.

But, the Lakers do not mind that. They fell back to .500, and the locker room was not filled with excitement after the Davis rumors. Getting Melo would sure bring help and joy to the team. Well, there is also a chance that they do not like LeBron’s friend on the team.
