Tom Brady Left Heartmelting Voice Message For Teen With Cancer Who Couldn’t Attend Super Bowl

Jake Silver dreamed of seeing the New England Patriots play and even win the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, the 18-year-old missed the big game because he was hospitalized at the time in Atlanta. The teen is battling cancer, and Tom knew that he had to do something.

Silver’s family confirmed that their boy received a special message from Tom Brady after the teen was unable to attend Super Bowl LIII. The teen’s mom took to Facebook to say that the quarterback sent her son a message on Wednesday morning. Brady knows the struggles of cancer patients, because his mom was dealing with the same disease. Silver was diagnosed with osteosarcoma three years ago.

During his interview with WCVB fom Atlanta before the Super Bowl, Jake said if the Patriots won the game, he’d buy TB12 lunch.

Jake was already adding things to his bucket list, and meeting Brady at the Super Bowl was one of his biggest wishes. Doctors told the teen he had three to six months to live, so the communities fundraised to help the boy turn his dreams into reality.

The donations were enough to provide Jake and his family tickets to the Super Bowl. But the boy did not have luck on his side. His family had to take him to the emergency room after his parents could not wake him up. Jake needed blood transfusion and the doctors found he had pneumonia. Jake’s family decided to give the tickets to the nurses who took care of Silver in the emergency room, and watched the Super Bowl at the hospital.

“As you can imagine, Jake is angry, upset, disappointed, frustrated and just wants to go home,” Jake’s mother, Melissa Duca, wrote on Monday.

The family returned home the next day.

“As most of you know, Jake hates hospitals,” Duca wrote on Wednesday. “While he is in them he is nasty, angry, scared and doesn’t eat. Today he is home and is delightful and is eating me out of house and home and is in much better spirits. It didn’t hurt that Tom Brady left him a voice message this morning!”
