Bill Belichick Adds Another Coach To New England Patriots Staff

The Patriots staff is getting a fresh boost as the team has now signed another coach.

Several coaches left New England to join the Miami Dolphins, and latest reports confirm that Carmen Bricillo will join the Patriots staff as an assistant offensive line coach. Brian Dzenis of The Vindicator was the first to confirm the information.

Bricillo was offensive line coach at Youngston State University for nine years.  Now is the time to try his chances in the National Football League.

This is not the first time New England gets someone from that university. They signed former third round pick Derek Rivers and current practice unit player Damoun Patterson.

Hiring Bricillo is actually bringing the question about current offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia. He will join the Patriots next season, but we cannot say anything other than that. Adding Bricillo to the coaching staff along with Scarnecchia may be a sign of the Patriots’ future plans.

Scarnecchia will enter his fourth season since coming out of his retirement. He joined the Patriots as special teams and tight end coach in 1982. Scarnecchia spent a couple of years with the Indianapolis Colts in 1989-90, but returned to Foxboro in 1991. He was added to the offensive line in 1999, and stayed on that position.

Last year was Scarnecchia’s most brilliant season as he showed excellent coaching performance. The o-line was dominant in the playoffs. Players allowed just one sack against powerful teams.

The Patriots staff is growing big

Bricillo will be the latest addition New England made. They have already brought in former Jets assistant quarterbacks coach Mick Lombardi. We still do not have much info regarding his role on the team, but some say he may replace former Patriots assistant quarterbacks coach Jerry Schuplinski. Jerry decided to join the Miami Dolphins in the offseason. Who is the next to come to New England?
