Colts Owner Jim Irsay Drops Bombshell Statement About Patriots’ Super Bowl Legacy

The New England Patriots are undoubtedly the best team in the NFL at the moment, and Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay is not even trying to deny it.

According to Jim Irsay, football teams have to meet super specific criteria to be called the greatest of all time. It takes three Super Bowl championships in a row, and no team has hit that bar.

The New England Patriots and six other teams have won back-to-back Lombardi Trophies. New England is often referred to as the GOAT. But, Irsay wrapped his comments in a completely different clothes. He said that no team has accomplished the “seemingly impossible goal.” In other dreams, the Indianapolis Colts still have a chance to do that, and that brings joy to their fanbase.

“The G.O.A.T. Standard for NFL Teams is simple and I’ve discussed the seemingly impossible goal with many in NFL circles over the last half of Century- 3 World Championships in a row- NO ONE’S DONE IT! Colt’s Fans Dream Boldly,” he tweeted.

The Colts and Patriots share a special connection packed with controversies. He wrote another tweet, noting that the Patriots are the best team in the post-1967 Super Bowl era. Imagine that!

“Let me be clear- The Patriots ARE The Greatest Team in the Super Bowl Era- Hands Down!! It’s just always been my opinion and goal; 3 Consecutive World Championships/in The Super Bowl era/is the G.O.A.T. Standard- that remains untouched and unachieved.”

Jim Irsay said nice words

Irsay still hopes that his team will meet the criteria, but did not even deny the fact that Belichick’s team is the ultimate force in the league. This sure is a compliment for everybody in Foxboro. Maybe they will say ‘thank you.’ Who knows…

One thing stands for sure, Irsay’s comment brought us joy. He should do that more often.
