New England Patriots 2018 MVP Announced

New England Patriots are the number one NFL team and they have no intention of giving up the title in near future. In fact, it looks like the team just keeps getting stronger, as several rookies made the Pro Bowl this season, showing a lot of promise. The league has become passing-focused and the strong number of young quarterbacks contributing on a weekly basis is one of the proofs. However, on the other side there’s an incredibly talented group of young pass rushers ready to take them down.

The NFL is a production business and there are many players who produced a lot for their respective teams. Of course, at the top of that list is Patriots’ running back James White.

As the New England Patriots were tackling several problems like Julian Edelman’s suspension for the first four games, Rob Gronkowski not being able to express his full potential and the loss of Brandin Cooks and Danny Amendola in free agency, James White stepped up for the Patriots. While the running back was always a key piece in New England’s passing game dating back to his heroics in Super Bowl LI against the Falcons, 2018 was when he took the spotlight. He built career numbers across the board for the Patriots catching 87 of his 123 targets from Tom Brady for 751 yards and seven touchdowns. He also contributed on the ground with 425 yards on 4.5 yards pre-carry and five more scores.

Another thing worth mentioning in regards to White’s game this year was his production in the red zone. While Gronk was in the midst of an off year, White also managed to dominate the red area, a spot that was almost exclusively Gronk’s domain. He was able to catch 16 of his 22 targets in the red zone for 117 yards and seven touchdowns to go along with 10 first downs, as well as rushing for three scores.
