Shaquille O’Neal Makes Surprise Demand To Lakers About Anthony Davis
Commenting on the supermax offer that the New Orleans Pelicans can give, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal has made a surprising request regarding LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
The NBA trade deadline closes on February 7 and the Lakers are negotiating to strike a deal with New Orleans for Davis.
They have reportedly already made an approach to the Pelicans with a number of different trade scenarios and offers.
As the New Orleans are yet to respond to Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka, Davis has said that he doesn’t want to sign a supermax contract extension, which could be worth close to $240million.
So, basically, leaving the team would mean leaving millions on the table.
But O’Neal has an even better suggestion for him. He believes Anthony Davis should somehow convince the three-time NBA champion to come to New Orleans instead.
“I think he’s a fabulous guy, I think he’s a great player,” O’Neal said.
“But I come from the place to where if you telling me I was great, I would have to show you that I am really great.
“The second thing is, if he stays home (in New Orleans), he gets $240 million.
“If he leaves he gets $209 million. I’m not giving up that $31 million. For anybody.
“What I would try to do is keep that and then now I’m the man and now I got to recruit LeBron to play with me.
“I got to recruit Kyrie (Irving) to come play with me because business-wise, $240 million in Louisiana will go way further than $240 million in L.A.
“Trust me, I know this for a fact.”
What do you think of that scenario? Which player should go where?
