Watch: Luke Walton Opens Up About The Relationship With LeBron James

Head coach Luke Walton is under fire this season. The Los Angeles Lakers are not playing their best basketball, and LeBron James’ groin strain made things worse. The team went low in rankings, and they even lost games to “weak” opponents. Many said LeBron and the head coach do not really like each other, but Walton says something else.

Luke Walton talked about his relationship with the basketball star, making sure everyone is aware of their great friendship. According to Walton, he and James “get along just fine.”

“I don’t know anything about that … LeBron and I get along just fine,” the head coach said.

Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times said LeBron’s “associates” are not happy with Walton’s coaching skills. The Lakers decided to keep Walton, and he will finish his job for the season.

“Nothing is going to happen with Luke,” a source told Brodrick Turner of the Los Angeles Times. “There hasn’t even been any talk about it and there won’t be any talks about it. Luke will definitely finish the season and he has the full support. So any talk in the media or on social media can be put to bed about Luke. He’s not going anywhere. There has been no conversation about it.”

Luke Walton is safe for now

The Lakers head coach 89-132 in two-plus season with the team. Jeanie Buss picked him. Walton was coaching under Steve Kerr with the Golden State Warriors. Their mutual effort brought the team to a 39-4 record during the 2015-16 season.

The Lakers are at 28-29 at the moment. LeBron missed too many games due to the injury he earned on Christmas Day. This was the longest absence of his professional career. Rajon Rondo and Lonzo Ball were also out of the floor due to injuries. The Lakers did not have much luck, but maybe things will change in near future.
