Watch: Tom Brady Convincing Bill Belichick To Kick Super Bowl Winning Field Goal

The New England Patriots won Super Bowl LIII, and each of the players had a huge role on the field. The team’s final offensive drive of the end followed a big decision. The field goal sealed the deal.

With 1:47 left to play in the game and New England up 10-3, Sony Michel had a 3rd & 1 carry for no gain setting up a 4th & 1 try. The coaching staff and players debated whether the team should line up the offense on the make-or-break down the Rams 24-yard line or just kick the field goal and earn two scores. The decision was accompanied with a huge pressure. The wrong move could help the Rams tie the game and force overtime.

Tom Brady is a master at the 1-yard QB sneak and Stephen Gostkowski missed a field goal earlier in the game. The team debated whether they should go for it. The Patriots ended up pushing the field goal from 41-yards to go up by two scores. The 13-3 score came thanks to Brady’s advise for Belichick to go for the field goal.

“Why don’t we just kick the field goal?” Brady asked on the sideline to the head coach. “40 yarder and the game’s over.”

“Alright, yeah. Field goal,” answered Belichick.

Brady and Belichick work well together, and team owner Robert Kraft is happy to have them.

“He’s the GOAT of coaches, just like our quarterback is the GOAT of quarterbacks. And no one can dispute it,” the Patriots owner said of Belichick. “The fact that our organization has been able to perform at this level in the age of the salary cap, when everyone spends the same amount of money, I’m pretty proud that we’ve been able to keep him and our quarterback together for 19 years. Please, God, it will be two decades next year. In today’s era of free agency and people going in different directions, that’s pretty cool.”
