Bill Belichick And Patriots Considering Unique Option On Coaching Staff

The New England Patriots made a few changes to the roster, and they are planning to fix the coaching staff, too. Five coaches left the Patriots after winning Super Bowl LIII, and head coach Bill Belichick is looking forward to fill out his staff.

Latest reports suggest that Bill Belichick and the Patriots may add special-teams coach Joe Judge to the offense.

The Patriots will enter the season without wide receivers coach Chad O’Shea and assistant quarterbacks coach Jerry Schuplinski. O’Shea is offensive coordinator in Miami, and Schuplinski has the same role for the Dolphins. Defensive playcaller Brian Flores is now the head coach of the Miami Dolphins. Defensive-line coach Brendan Daly became the Chiefs’ run-game coordinator and he is also in charge of the defensive line. Cornerbacks coach Josh Boyer went to Miami, too, and he is their pass-game coordinator and takes care of the cornerbacks.

The 37-year-old Judge was a quarterback and Lansdale Catholic High School (Pennsylvania) before earning three letters at Mississippi State.

Some special-teams coaches are interested in becoming head coaches one day, and many of them are frustrated with the fact that their opportunities and functions are limited. The Baltimore Ravens are one of the most recent teams to hire a special-teams coach for the head-coaching position as they welcomed John Harbaugh in 2008.

Joining the Patriots gives Judge a great chance to become head coach in near future. He would be of great help for the Patriots, too.

There is no official announcement at this moment. Belichick is taking into consideration all options, but Judge has the greatest chance to join the team. Let’s see if experts are right to make such prediction. Is Bill Belichick ready for a new addition to his staff? We have a few ideas about this, but we’d rather wait to see what happens next.
