The Best Potential Replacements For Luke Walton

Lakers head coach Luke Walton is in a big trouble at the moment. Things went downhill from the very first moment LeBron James came to town. Have you ever noticed that his coaches have a short shelf life? Paul Silas was head coach in Cleveland during LeBron’s rookie season, but he was removed after two years. Mike Brown helped the team reach the NBA Finals and win 60 games in back-to-back seasons.

David Blatt was removed after one season. LeBron has an awesome talent, but he does not really have much patience. This often results in changes in his teams.

Things do not really work well for the Lakers at the moment. They are 30-33 after 63 games and three games below .500 for the first time since the 0-3 start. They were defeated by the New Orleans Pelicans, Memphis Grizzlies and Phoenix Suns. Each team lacked a star player, but the Lakers could not win the games.

Luke Walton is the first to be accused for this failure. Nothing beats the fact that Walton will be fired at some point in near future.

Several names are listed as possible replacements for Walton. Eric Spoelstra, Phil Jackson, Jason Kidd and even Ty Lue.  Stan Van Gundy and Juwan Howard are also listed as a possible options.

Some of these have greater chances of coaching the Lakers. But we will just wait to see what will happen next.

Earlier this season ESPN’s Jackie MacMullan reported that LeBron’s camp will want the head coach out.

“It’s clear to me, and probably to you, Brian, that LeBron’s camp would prefer a coaching change—they’re not too subtle about that,” MacMullan said. “Not LeBron, but all the people around LeBron. There’s plenty of them and they’ve made it known. I don’t think this is a shock, is it? There’s a lot of tension in that building. I think people are wondering about Luke Walton, even though (owner and president) Jeanie Buss came out very strongly and said, ‘I want Luke to be here, I back him 100 percent,’ but then also made the point that has to be made—and that is that she hired Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson to make these decisions.”
