Patriots Fan Has A Heartmelting Story Of Surviving Super Bowl Heart Attack

Patriots fan Gary Bell talked to his 17-year-old son the morning of the Super Bowl, and he was ready for the big show.

“I was so worked up. I get way too into it and I didn’t know what to expect, and I said to him, ‘If this is another 2- or 3-point Super Bowl, I’m going to have a heart attack. I can’t take another game like that,'” Bell recalled.

“I was joking, but then I actually had one.”

His story had a happy ending, and he is now ready to tell it with laughter.

“I kept saying to the doctor, ‘If they would just score a touchdown, I bet my heart rate would go down.”

Many fand felt this way at the day of the Super Bowl. Doctors told Bell that he was actually having a heart attack.

“I’m very, very lucky,” said Bell. “There’s no permanent damage. They said I should be living a normal life.”

He’s been supporting the Patriots his whole life.

“I always loved them growing up as a kid,” said Bell. He bought the first season tickets in 1992 when he was actually with sheet metal workers Local 17. He paid $28 for the seats in Section 220 of old Foxboro Stadium. The $280 investment for the season further added more fuel to the fire. He was die-hard fan of the team.

Bell knew what it’s like to hope for a sixth ring. Every Patriots fan felt that. His heart was pounding so hard. The New England Patriots made eight Super Bowl appearances. Bell was well aware of the great event. It was like a holiday for him. But, the heart attack did not stop him. He even drove himself to the nearby urgent care facility.

“I wanted to feel better for the Super Bowl,” he said.
