What New England Patriots Gave Up In Michael Bennett Trade

The Philadelphia Eagles found a way to send Michael Bennett to New England, and are now finalizing the deal to trade him. The news was first reported by Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

What are the Eagles getting for Michael Bennett?

“An #Eagles trade of DE Michael Bennett to the Patriots is going down as of this writing, NFL sources said. Draft picks still be ironed out,” McLane tweeted.

The Patriots gave up on a third-round pick for Bennett last offseason, but the Seattle Seahawks had success in trading him to the Eagles for Marcus Johnson and a fifth-round pick.

McLane also reported that Philadelphia will get a 2020 fifth-round pick for the player, and will also send a 2020 seventh-round pick along with him.

This helps the Eagles save $7.2 million in cap space.

“I don’t know what’s happening with the Eagles,” Bennett said on Good Morning Football Friday. “You always want to be with the team that you play with, but at the same time it’s a business. You want to be able to make money whenever you get the opportunity. If you’re on the trading block, its’a part of the game, but I still know I’m one of the best players in the NFL.

“How I approach the game, I love football. Whatever team I’m on, I’m going to take that same attitude and be a nasty player. I’m going to dominate on the defensive line and be the best teammate and best player I can be.”

Bennett was one of the most efficient edge rushers in the second half of 2018. He was able to finish with 68 pressures, 37 hurries and 22 stops in 716 snaps. In his 2017 season with the Seattle Seahawks, Bennett had 70 pressures, 44 hurries and 32 stops in 931 snaps.
