Patriots Make Official Decision On CB Jason McCourty

The New England Patriots made a decision on Jason McCourty. Tom E. Curran of NBC Sports Boston reported on the case.

Curran said New England was a top choice for McCourty, and he will stay with the Patriots for quite some time.

“First and foremost, if I could be back in New England and all of that works out, that would be awesome,” Jason told Curran in February about his free agency. “That way it wouldn’t be the third consecutive year I had to move my family. That would be an advantage.”

“It’s a beautiful thing man, God is good,” the cornerback said after Super Bowl LIII. “0-16 last year, Super Bowl champion this year. I couldn’t have thought this up man. Dev texted Bill [Belichick] and told him that two McCourtys are better than one. I guess he believed that and I know tonight he believes it.

“This group of guys, the journey that we’ve gone through this season, from 1-2 to start the season, to losing in Miami on the last play of the game, to going to Pittsburgh and losing again on the road, to having to go on the road and go to Kansas City and having everyone say how bad of a team we were on the road, to go out there to Kansas City, win that game, to this offense and defense holding them to three points.

“The staff has told us the past few weeks, this is the moment we are built for. I remember when I first came to this team in April, there was a whole media spectacle that it wouldn’t be any fun here. It’s my third organization and my 10th season, I haven’t had more fun than this season.”

Jason joined the Patriots after the team completed a trade deal with Cleveland Browns.
